iSTEMhouse: Progressive in Science and Technology to Challenge the Future.
In the industrial revolution 4.0 eras with its knowledge-based societies, many social cultures change because of science and technology advance in all of around the world. The appearance of its positive and negative impacts is crucially damage for the environment. Consequently we need human resources who can wisely manage science and technology development. This phenomenon provides an impact on supplying many human resources who are adaptable with this era-absolutely should be created. The education system especially in science education is one of the essential factors for preparing this such human resources to become versatile with that situation. Therefore, we need this interrelation forum to collaborate and support each other in science education context to reach Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the harmony of the world.
Consequently, many schools and universities strive to develop a teaching system which is in line with the needs of the community at this time. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education approach is believed as one of an approach applied in many countries. Through STEM approach, the learning process will be adjusted with a real-world problem, so students are easy to understand a phenomenon in need of the world. The concept of STEM education has been recognized in the theoretical education framework, which can be used to develop a better science education system in a developing country. In the USA the STEM education has a strong concept and can be implanted in the universities mainly in teacher education institution as well as many schools curriculum. Thus, as the collaboration between University of Jember and STEM specialist in University of Minnesota and Shizuoka University will be able to produce a precise model of STEM approach teaching and learning, which can effectively be implemented in the school. Therefore by using this International STEM House, the goals of STEM education model can be involved in higher education as well as school curriculum.
This event involves three programs namely The 1st International Conference on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education (The 1st ICoSTEM-Ed), Symposium, and Workshop
